The City of Ann Arbor is encouraging residents to use a new online forum to comment on plans for the South State Street corridor as well as other projects in the future.
Announced Monday, the "A2 Open City Hall" tool allows users to comment on specific topics that the city posts on the forum.
South State Street runs right through the University campus in between the Michigan Union and the Diag. The City is beginning to plan developmental changes to the corridor, and is using the tool as a way to collect public input.
City Administrator Steve Powers said in a statement that the new forum called will allow residents to impact the city's decisions in a more convenient way.
"The A2 Open City Hall online forum is one more way the city continues its efforts to provide diverse opportunities for citizen interaction and engagement,” said Powers. “We want to expand our citizens’ ability to learn about important city issues and participate in discussions that matter to them, in a convenient and open way."
The city's announcement noted that 40 cities in the United States are using the tool, but Ann Arbor is the first community using it in the state of Michigan.
