Driesenga started all three games of the regional final last weekend, pitching 21 consecutive innings and two straight matchups with No. 18 California. The right-hander struck out 19 and threw two shutouts in the weekend en route to a super regional berth for the Wolverines.

Michigan defeated the Golden Bears, 3-1, on Sunday, to secure the program’s 16th regional title and advance to their eighth super regional in the last nine years. The Wolverines will host Louisiana-Lafayette next weekend at Alumni Field — where they remain undefeated this season.

Sara Driesenga and the Michigan defense continued to look dominant in their second-straight shutout of the NCAA Tournament, defeating California 5-0. Although Driesenga didn’t have a no-hitter going like she did against Valparaiso, she was still able to get after the Golden Bear hitters and keep them off the scoreboard.

This weekend marks the Wolverines’ 19th consecutive NCAA tournament bid and 21st in program history. Under Hutchins, Michigan has advanced past regional finals in all but three tournament appearances — most recently in 2011 — and has hosted 16 regional tournaments.
